October 1, 2014 - Local artist Mark Birksted designed the poster for the 2nd annual Slime Bone City Horror Festival which is runs from Oct. 8 to 11 at the Screening Room Movie theatre in downtown Kingston.
October 2, 2014 - Canadian Olympian Simon Whitfield spoke at a special assembly at Mother Teresa Catholic School on Thursday October 2, 2014 about the upcoming Pan Am and Parapan Am Games in 2015.

October 9, 2014 - Kingston Mayor Mark Gerretsen presented the city's flag to the Chestmates Kingston Dragon Boat Team during the presentation ceremony held at City Hall on Thursday October 9, 2014. The team of breast cancer survivors will be representing Kingston at an international dragon boat competition festival in Florida held by the International Breast Cancer Paddler's Commission.

*EXTRA* October 18, 2014 - The Ministry of Transportation, in consultation with the contraction AECON, set up a viewing area on the closed off Hwy-401 westbound Montreal Street off ramp, for the public to come watch the final part of the old Montreal Street bridge being demolished on Saturday October 18, 2014. This is the first highway bridge removal in the Kingston area. All lanes of the highway were reopened by 4 p.m. Sunday.

*EXTRA* October 23 - Ryan Bosman, seen here on Thursday in front of his gaming systems, will be participating in a 26 hour video game marathon with three friends to help raise money for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. The event, Extra Life: Play Games, Heal Kids, helps raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. Last year Bosman raised $1815 and is looking to try and double that this year.

October 25, 2014 - Queen's University Gaels Alex Willkie, centre, finished in fifth place helping his team finish fifth overall in the Ontario University Athletics cross country championship on Saturday October 25, 2014 at Fort Henry Hill. The Guelph Gryphons finished first in both divisions.
*EXTRA* October 25, 2014 - Due to the heavy rain organizers decided to postpone this years Kingston Zombie walk to November 8. That didn't stop Zombie Team from Shoppers Drug Mart from showing up with a shopping cart full of donations to McBurney Park on Saturday
*EXTRA* October 25, 2014 - Eight-year old sisters Kayla, left and Ashley Headrick, with Mike Berry, raised $1,125 for the Help Save Mike fundraising campaign by holding a bottle drive and donating their chore money when helping their grandfather in his barn. The main fundraising event, which was held at the Red House on Saturday October 25, 2014, helped raise $44,000 to help sent Berry, who suffers from Systemic Scleroderma, to Chicago for a life-saving treatment not covered in Canada. 
October 26, 2014 - Five-year old Lacey Sweet, who is autistic, is all smiles while riding Valentine during the open house at Wolfden Farms Therapeutic Riding School on Sunday October 26, 2014. Sweet has been taking private lessons since June and her mother has seen a drastic improvement in the her daughters ability to focus and self-confidence.
