August 01, 2016 - Construction work on the newly designed Kingston Transit bus terminal at the Cataraqui Centre, seen here in Kingston, Ont. on Monday August 1, 2016, is progressing and expected to re-open this fall. 
*EXTRA* August 01, 2016 - Barbara Moorhead, seen here on Monday August 1, 2016 in front of one of the smaller piles of garbage, and her neighbours are upset and want something done about the residential garbage that is constantly being piles up outside the Cliff Crescent townhouses a day or two before the schedule day that the City of Kingston picks it up.

August 03, 2016 - Representatives from the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston & District present a cheque to Brenda Moore, chairperson for the Food Sharing Project in the Jenkins Computer offices in Kingston, Ont. on Wednesday August 3, 2016. The annual spring banquet raised $30,000 that will go towards helping The Food Sharing Project feed local school children. The agency served 14,500 children last year in the Limestone and Algonquin & Lakeshore District school boards.
August 04, 2016 - Kingston and the Islands MPP Sophie Kiwala announces a $140,000 funding partnership between the province and Tri-Art Manufacturing that will create 10 new jobs and help retain 38 other positions at the local facility in Kingston

*EXTRA* August 09, 2016 - Thirty to forty protestors from Kingston Vegetarian Network, as well as from Ottawa and Toronto, gathered outside the Memorial Centre to demonstrate, with signs and chanting,  against the use of animals in the Shriners Circus which has two performances in Kingston
August 10, 2016 - Ella Hickey, sitting with one of her two new kittens Honey on Wednesday August 10, 2016, is holding a cupcake bake sale fundraiser instead of a birthday party to celebrate her 10th birthday on Aug. 19 and to help raise money for Spay Neuter Kingston Initiative's (SNKI) high-volume, reduced cost spay/neuter clinic project in Kingston, Ont.  She will be outside the Starbucks at 95 Princess Street on Aug. 19 from Noon to 6 p.m. selling baked goods and spreading SNKI awareness.

August 16, 2016 - A donation of $20,000 was presented from the staff and volunteer of the Kingston Keg Golf Tournament to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation and Kingston General Hospital Cancer Centre staff for the Child Life Fund and the Pediatric Cancer Fund, after getting a tour of the centre in Kingston
*EXTRA* August 16, 2016 - With a sever thunderstorm watch and rainfall warning in effect for the Kingston area today, some roadways, like along King Street at the bottom of the emergency department ramp, developed large puddles that kept drivers and pedestrians on their toes.

*EXTRA* August 30, 2016 - Barbara and Howard Cumming, sitting, talking about the improvements they’ve seen to their quality of life after being able to take part in an art class at H’art Studio. Barbara’s sight is weakening and Howard is dealing with a loss of hearing.  Kingston and the Islands MPP Sophie Kiwala, along with the H’art Centre executive director, Katherine Porter and volunteer Ginny Trousdale, helps announce the $40,000 in funds from the Ontario government going towards the H'art Centre’s newest program Young at H'art, bringing the project total up to $120,000 at the H'art Studio in Kingston, Ont. on Tuesday August 30, 2016. Classes’ start on September 12, and the 15-week free program will offer creative arts classes to Kingston’s seniors with disabilities or age-related functional decline featuring five new arts experiences in storytelling, music, theatre, dance, and visual arts led by professional artists.
