365 - February 2017

This winter is looking pretty wacky with spring temperatures then back to freezing ice/wind/snow and back again.  Hopefully Mother Nature is just having a short nervous breakdown to get re-balanced?

Things to look forward to in February:
- Quinzee camping with Girl Guides, if the weather will make up its mind.
- back to GG meetings if they don't keep getting canceled due to ice days (Triboard Tuesdays)
- Thinking Day campfire singing at the mall (Feb 16)
- Remembering the good times with Aunt Rosemary and Nanny Vivian
- Febfest and the polar plunge, again if the weather will make up its mind.
- Getting my custom weighted blanket :D

February 5, 2017 - The first of five groups from 'The Professionals', Tim Agapas, left, and Tom Holmes, jump into the 2oC water off Crawfords Wharf for the 2017 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario in Kingston, Ont. on Sunday February 5, 2017. The group of local professionals raised $25,000 of the $41,000 which put the event over its $30,000 goal this year.

February 7, 2017 - Approximately 30 trees, in poor condition, are being removed from Caton's Park, off Rideau Street, by City contractors in preparation for upcoming park renovation works in Kingston, Ont. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. The remaining trees in the park will be pruned as part of this exercise.

February 20, 2017 - A number of businesses are now dealing with possible smoke and fire damage after an afternoon fire in the west end of Kingston, Ont. on Monday February 20, 2017. Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at K-Town Liquidators after a customer in a neighbouring business,  reported the smell of burnt rubber around 1:30 p.m. on the Family Day.

February 21, 2017 - What started out as a word of mouth idea between residents at 85 Ontario St. turned into more than 40 people from three different community groups helping to fill and load up 80 shoeboxes containing health, education and recreational supplies for indigenous youth ages 4 to 16 years-old, as well as 18 cartons of teaching supplies going to I Love First Peoples Shoebox initiative
