Kingston's Nighttime Santa Claus Parade

The 2014 Kingston Nighttime Santa Claus parade started at 5pm on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the traffic circle and made it's way down Princess Street to Market Square, where Santa helped light the city's Christmas tree.  Luckily the rain and wind held off for the thousands of people who lined the streets to watch the seasonal spectacle.

November 1, 2014 - The streets were lined with children of all ages to watch the annual Amherstview Lion Club Santa Claus Parade on Saturday November 1, 2014. It's the first parade of the season and is a fundraiser for the Lions Club Christmas Hampers program, which helps provide much needed food to families during the holiday season.

*EXTRA* November 1, 2014 - Breast Cancer Action Kingston (BCAK) volunteers Bea Faraklas, Sue Davies and Joy Nielsen get in close, while stirring the perfume mixture, to sample a smell of the new perfume Never Despair, which is being bottled for their fundraiser at the 1000 Islands Soap Company on King Street East on Saturday November 1, 2014.  $2 from each bottle sold will go to BCAK to help with their awareness and programs.

*EXTRA* November 1, 2014 - It took three LaSalle Black Knights, Jordan Price, Sam Mace and Will Shorthouse to stop Sydenham Golden Eagles Sam Moyse during a running play in the first quarter of the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletic Association Senior Football AA Championship game at Richardson Stadium on Saturday November 1, 2014. The Golden Eagles won 47-0.
November 2, 2014 - Kingston Fire and Rescue, Kingston Police and Frontenac County paramedics responded to a structure fire just after 2:30 p.m. on the 700 block on Montreal Street on Sunday November 2, 2014. Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke coming from the back of the structure. Two pets, a dog and a snake, were rescued and returned to their owners. No injuries were reported and the damage is estimated at $143,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

November 5, 2014 - Five-person teams participated in the 3rd annual RMC/United Way Waterborne Obstacle Course Challenge at the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre Pool on Wednesday November 5, 2014. The event is based on training third year cadets receive and all the money raised will go the the United Way.

November 7, 2014 - Local artisan David Blair, owner of The Stonecutter, has been working with stone for more than 10 years, cutting, polishing and creating unique pieces that he sells at local markets and craft shows. Blair, seen here at one of his many workstations on Friday November 7, 2014, is one of the artisans featured at the new Passionate Artisan Pop-up store at 28 Bath Rd.

November 8, 2014 - More than 25 people attended a protest in Springer Market Square on Saturday evening in solidarity for the families of the 43 missing student teachers in Mexico. It's been 43 days since the students disappeared and the local Latino community want to raise awareness of the ongoing issue.

Kingston saw a high of -2 but it felt more like -9 with the windchill and westerly wind gusts reaching 59km/hr.

November 29, 2014 - More than 100 young martial arts students put their skills to the test helping to raise $3,127 at the 19th annual Kids Helping Kids Have a Christmas and 500 Technique Challenge held at Cataraqui Woods Elementary School in Kingston, Ont. on Saturday November 29, 2014. The fundraiser goes to support the Salvation Army's Christmas Hamper campaign.
